Reindeer Run

The Reindeer Run is the largest event organized by the Charitable Society of Charleston each year, with proceeds benefitting the MUSC Children's Hospital. Proceeds often exceed $50,000 a year from this event alone. Every member is committed to the success of the Reindeer Run and volunteers his/her time the day of the race, while a standing Reindeer Run committee coordinates everything beforehand.

The course consists of a 5k route through beautiful downtown Charleston that starts at Vendue Range and heads towards the battery. The race is pet-friendly and is the third largest race in the Charleston area.

Oyster Roast

Typically held in the winter shortly after the New Year and open to the public, the Charitable Society Oyster Roast benefits a different organization each year. Attendance is often in excess of 500 people and most organizations receive several thousand dollars in donations. Recent beneficiaries of the event include local charities like the Green Heart Project, WINGS for Kids, and Louie's Kids.

The event is held at the Charleston Visitor Center bus shed and isn't something you'll want to miss.

Alumni Events

When you become a part of the Charitable Society, you become part of a legacy that spans over 20 continuous years of service to the Charleston area. Keeping in touch with members of the past is an increasing and growing area of focus in our organization. We held a "Live Here, Give Here" alumni Lowcountry boil 2014 at Goldbug Island. We look forward to having more events in the future where past members can get involved.
